Fiandra is a welcoming , highly comfortable modular sofa with a generous seat, designed for relaxation and socializing. This reissue of the historic model, designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in 1975 , features more generous lines and a lower seat to meet the needs of today’s living spaces, while still leaving the iconic shape of the foot visible. Central to the design remains the desire to eliminate the superfluous through a construction that excludes unnecessary materials.
The wooden panels and their metal supports are replaced, and the frame co-molded with the seat is eliminated, creating a single powder-coated steel structure that supports the webbed surface. This supports the cushions, with varying levels of support—made of polyurethane foam with a percentage of bio-based or recycled polyols—held in place by the internal lining and fabric cover. The modules are joined by a metal plate with snap buttons positioned under the surface, which attaches without tipping the sofa over.
